Sambuca is an anise-flavoured, usually colourless liqueur. Its most common variety is often referred to as white sambuca in order to differentiate it from derivative spirits that are deep blue in colour (known as black sambuca) or bright red (red sambuca).[1][2]
Luxardo, the UK leading brand of sambuca, makes a popular variation flavored with anise and "other natural aromas".[3]

Anisette and Sambucca are both anise (black liquorice) flavored liquers similar to Ouzo. They probably are smoother because they are generally lower proof than Ouzo, meaning there is less alcohol. A lot of places serve them ice cold as a shot.
I used to drink Opal Nera sambucca from Hiram Walker. I don't know if its still on the market, but it was good.
Cheers

Anisette.. The Sambucca is Ouzo that you normally would have gotten if they had it. Anisette is the cheaper version of Ouzo with less alcohol.....

Opal Nera or Sambucca.
Both are similar but Opal Nera is smoother and slightly better quality.
Sambucca comes in various colours, Opal Nera, just blackish purple.
