They say it burns your retinas...is there any truth to that?

The biggest danger seems to be in green laser pointers.

Yes it is bad. Although most are just a few milliwatts power, direct entry into the eye could cause damage. Don't risk it.

you're shining light directly into the eye... obviously it's going to be bad for them. You would stare directly into the sun would you?
