belly button fluff is a mixture of dead skin and bit of the clothes you wear.

The hairs around it form of brush the fluff from clothing into the hollow. i understand this, using fact I shave mine off and are not getting abdomen button fluff. nicely, they're icky and dark. i'm unlikely to easily enable them to develop there.

i guess all these answers have definitely put me off the idea of belly buttons as being sexy...i have considered getting mine pierced....now am not so sure...do i really wanna subject someone to my clothes fluff in one concentrated area...?.......no grapes in there for me!!!

I have never once had belly button lint, I guess its because I dont have any hair in there. My husband gets the lint though and it stinks so bad!!!! ugh.

This is one of the great mysteries of life. I think it comes from little lint elfs that do it when they are not placing quraters and other coins for the tooth fairy.
Actually, it comes from the lint off of your clothing that settles and collects in your navel.

It's a mystery to me too. But I can tell you that if you collect enough of it and save it you can have it made into a very nice sweater.
