I mean, it seems to me that the people who would claim to be highly religious are the same ones screaming the loudest that we shouldn’t do anything to curb environmental degradation. It’s not our place, it’s all “natural”, this is not god’s kingdom, the earth is merely a filling station, etc. Yet, when you read what some of the scenarios are, they sound an awful lot like what will happen if we do nothing to address our environmental crisis. And I’m not just talking about global warming; I mean they despise any kind of attitude that suggests the earth has inherent value and should be protected just for the sake of it. Yet, they will want to point and “See, I told you so. God is real and this is the end and ha-ha all you other people are gonna burn.” Will religion destroy the earth?

chris: see? you're what's wrong with this country

cookie: i'm well aware of what a self-fulfilling prophecy is, thank you. what you don't seem to realize is that it's also closely tied to perspective. what you call pride i call narcissism. picking up trash won't save you, but it's a start.

if gandalf or "the seal" had said a little more, they might have got it.

and finally, to trk, whom i will award ten points: that actually does make me feel a little better, as i love our earth like it was my own body. however, i would only urge you to look honestly and critically at your own life. are you sure you are not also one who brings ruin to the earth? are you so sure that you are meek, as required? i hope so...otherwise you're a hypocrit

The bible says that God will bring judgment against the wicked just as in Noah's day. The earth was not destroyed only the wicked.

The bible shows that the earth is here forever. Ecc. 1: 4 "A generation is going, and a generation is coming, but the earth is standing even to time indefinite."

It also says that the "the righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it." Ps. 37: 29

God will not let man destroy the earth. As Rev. 11: 18 states he will "bring to ruin those ruining the earth."

So God's promises are not doomsday for the righteous men and the earth, and everyone has the opportunity to be a part of his original plan for mankind and the earth. It is something to look forward to as Ps. 37: 10 & 11 states "And just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more, and you will certainly give attention to his place, and he will not be. But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace."

Self-fulfilling prophecies are self-fulfilling if people know about them but don't do anything different about them. The other thing you have to take into account is that there is more to life than meets the eye, and there are both good and bad forces. As far as global warming goes, it is my opinion that if we all kept the Sabbath day holy and refrained from so much "busy" or "work" activity on Sunday (or Saturday for the Jewish and Adventists, or whatever day of the week for other faiths), we would slow down global warming considerably. I think we should make an effort to conserve resources and pick up litter and stuff like that, because this is our home for at least another 15 to 30 years or so before the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, and even during the Millennium it will be our home, for the most part. It is not religion that is in danger of destroying the earth, but pride in all its forms. True religion will save the earth - that is, true kindness and being aware of the needs of others. Have a happy day, and I send you a gummy bear.

i'd always ask your self about those those that do not be counted on astrology and the way it impacts them. i know a lot of none believers and yet they nevertheless have the tell tell features of their indicators. i imagine that with regards to astrology, it would not do skeptics any sturdy to in undemanding words study those that be counted on it in spite of the undeniable fact that it may practice so a lot more beneficial to concentration specifically on those that do not. i guess what i'm attempting to assert is that if the regulations of astrology may be seen in those that do not even be counted on it then it may't be effective in undemanding words because of self-pleasing prophecies.

More degradation, faster.
More of whatever the Bible says will happen.
The faster the better.
The more it happens the faster we will get to go.
