"The head God called together the Gods and sat in grand council to bring forth the world...In the beginning, the head of the Gods called a council of the gods; and they came together and concocted a plan to create the world and people it." (Joseph Smith, Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pp. 348, 349)
"The contention in heaven was...Jesus said there would be certain souls that would not be saved; and the Devil said he could save them all, and laid his plans before the grand council, who gave their vote in favour of Jesus Christ. So the Devil rose up in rebellion against God, and was cast down, with all who put up their heads for him." (Joseph Smith, Journal of Discourses,, Vol. 6, page 8.

We don't say that!!! It isn't a separate planet!! It's a star. It's the closest star to where God is. Do some research before you ask stupid questions like this!!
Abraham wrote that he received instruction on astronomy from God. He saw many planets and stars. Abraham 3:9 (LDS Pearl of Great Price) indicates that there is a major star named Kolob near the throne of God. It does not say that the throne is on a planet. Kolob and planets are not an important part of LDS theology. Earth and heaven are.
What does the part about Satan have to do with Kolob?? Also, in the time of Joseph Smith, there wasn't much knowledge of planets and the way the solar system worked, so it's always possible that since this wasn't known at his time, he could have interchanged some words. Men aren't infallable. Sorry to tell you. Even prophets can get stuff wrong.

Yeah, the "head God".... He's our Father... He's always been the leader of the "family"...
"Mormons" believe that all mankind are brothers and sisters. The father of our spirits is God, literally our Heavenly Father. As His children, we are the same species as He is. Sure, we "look" nothing like Him... but does a caterpillar's cocoon look much like a butterfly? Same thing here- guess you could say we're at a different stage in the life cycle.
As far as Kolob- All we know is that it is the sun associated with the planet God calls home. God has said that it moves much slower than our sun. Nothing has been said identifying which star it is, although there is speculation that it's the North Star.
I don't really know whether we ("Mormons", Catholics, Muslims, Jews, atheists, humans in general) will ever go to Kolob....

Abraham wrote that he won education on astronomy from God. He observed many planets and stars. Abraham 3:9 (LDS Pearl of large fee) shows that there is a substantial massive call named Kolob close to the throne of God. It does no longer say that the throne is on a planet. Kolob and planets at the instant are not an important part of LDS theology. Earth and heaven are. What "The God Makers" does is to absolutely distort LDS teachings to point we've faith in extraterrestials and sci-fi stuff. you will possibly be able to desire to attend thousands of sacrament readings and study hundreds of LDS talks with out having any of the "sci-fi" stuff using fact it is not what the Church is approximately. We do have faith that God is authentic. We have faith the Bible whilst it says that Christ, who's one with God, won a actual physique and became resurrected and confirmed his immortal, resurrected physique to others (Luke 24: 36-39). he's all-powerful, and his impact is everywhere, yet there are actual places the place actual beings actual stay, and heaven is an actual place. The throne of God, in line with Abr. 3, is someplace, and that someplace has a large massive call close by. lower back, the type of "realness" bothers a large style of people, inspite of the incontrovertible fact that it rather shouldn't.

Who knows??? I would say probably not, but there are many things that have not been revealed to mankind, according to Mormons. It is also not of much relevance so there wouldn't be many Mormons trying to look into it. Mormons believe that the Celestial kingdom will be on this Earth, in a new form. Kolob is just a planet nearest to where God resides (and your quotes don't say anything different).

I don't know about the whole "where God was chosen to be the God of the earth thing" - never heard of that.
But I do know that Kolob is supposed to be the closest star to where God dwells. We don't know where that star is, could be our sun, could be in another dimension - it's just an abstract reference that really doesn't matter much.
edit - nice quote on the whole council in heaven thing, but as you can see God was already God there, and it was a debate about free-will.

Maybe we will someday, who knows. I am positive we were present when the plan was given to us to accept or reject, those who are on the earth, were on the earth, or have yet to be on the earth we believe accepted the Plan as given by the Father.
Why are you so obsessed with Kolob?

It's not the planet where our god was chosen, it's the planet closest to where God is.
Abraham 3: 1 And I, Abraham, had the Urim and Thummim, which the Lord my God had given unto me, in Ur of the Chaldees;
2 And I saw the stars, that they were very great, and that one of them was nearest unto the throne of God; and there were many great ones which were near unto it;
3 And the Lord said unto me: These are the governing ones; and the name of the great one is Kolob, because it is near unto me, for I am the Lord thy God: I have set this one to govern all those which belong to the same order as that upon which thou standest.
