Al'lah is a name derived from a Hindu moon god. Today, because of the culture it simply refers to the god of Islam, or just "god".
The word "Al'lah" has meaning to it. If it just meant "god" then I would have no problem. But seeing that it is the word derived from the moon god (thus crescent in symbols of Islam), I will not accept it.
Also, those are words for god. If "Allah" was SIMPLY the arabic word for God, then I would have no problem using Allah. However, words do have meaning...I will have to do more research with arabic people to see what the implied meaning of Allah is.
Also, the "Lord God" or YHWH & "Al'lah" are different deities. Each's holy book contradict the other. In Exodus, God took it very seriously when people followed/created other gods to worship.
I hope this sheds some light on the subject for you.
Was I redundant?

Naz, you've got to understand that people say that of al Lah, father of al Lat, al Uzza and Mannat, the former God of the Ka'aba.
I don't klnow why the Muslims deny this fact; which everybody knows?
Can you explain why the al Hajarul Aswad which is a meteoric stone that was taken as a Sign from al Lah still there in the Ka'aba?
Can you explain why the Haj is a mandatory Pilgrimage for the Muslims?
Why do you perform the seven times circumambulations widdershins [anticlockwise] around the Ka'aba in the Pilgrimage?
Why does it say that Mohammad destroyed the Statues of the God of the Ka'aba?
Why don't you use the other 99 names of Allah? Why not ar Rahman? ar Rahim? al Malik?
These questions are addressed to the Muslims, not Atheists who, obviously, wouldn't be worked up over this.

Sure the word for God is similar in many different languages. That is because European languages are of Latin or Germanic roots, and go back to the common root of Indo-European.
It is not how the word "god" is spelled or pronounced, it is how the people are expected to relate to God and what God expects of His people. That is what is important.
The Islamic interpretation of God is not the same as the JudeoChristian interpretation of God.

unfortunately some people can not accept the fact that others have a right to believe as they wish. sad, but true.
it is my understanding that muslims and christians actually worship the same god. they just go about it differently.
being pagan myself i can say with some certainty that allah is not a pagan god.
