Fact from fiction, truth from diction. Here in the States there is an air of sexual hypocrisy. They use sex to sell you nearly everything. from cars, to burgers, breath mints and more. It is the vehicle for many series and sitcoms, music videos and such. If you are not getting sex at least 3 times a week you are a loser. And no one cares much if 2 15 year olds are boinking like bunnies, even when neither can support a child should one happens along(and often does). If one of the partners were over 18 logically there would be a better chance that half of the parenthood could at least support or contribute. BUT...we live under the dome of hypocrisy. At 17 society deems you too stupid and immature to decide on sex with anyone over 18. Always this fear that love(or the resemblence of it)can't bridge pass 18. If one of the partners are over 18 they surely are just making merchandise of the younger partner. Certainly there can not be any true love there *cough* Mary K. LeTourneau-Fuallau and Vili cough, cough* Ironically enough, they want to call you a child in sexual matters but an adult in money matters, travel fares, tickets to ball games and events. And if you snuck into a house with and ax and hacked a family of 5 to death, BINGO, they will certainly WANT to treat you as an adult then. They won't even consider your youth and suppose ignorance. Had you done an adult act of murder and they will want to treat you as an adult(even though legally you ain't)no juvenile treatment any longer. See the hypocrisy? but hypocrisy is good. Because it makes the average fornicator feel good about their fornication by making other forms bad. That is the ONLY reason why you are denied your shot at the relationship you speak.

Too many older people took advantage of younger, inexperienced people so the laws were put in effect. Actually as time has gone by & children were more spoiled & immature at yet older ages, the ages went up for these laws. 150-125 yrs ago 14 & 15 yrs olds were married raising families & running farms or working in steel mills. Kids started working around the farm(working all day) at very young ages(less than 10yrs old), no birth control large families, endless work to be done just to survive. Of course life expectancy ages were 40-50 yrs if you were very lucky.
Kids then usually married the neighbor on the next farm since there was no time to date. Marriage was a convience, a necessity. Sometimes to get one less mouth to feed, or so the father could get an extra cow or goat from the dowrie.

its not the teens we are worried about but they have to draw a line somewhere no you are right 22 and 17 is not bad but 40 and 17 is they are trying to stop the perverts out there and unfortunatly when you are at the in between age that it causes problems thats like and 18 and 5 its only 3 years but its illegal. It usally not a problem until the parents get up set about the relationship. just becareful you would hate to have a sex offenders record for someone you dated. It will ruin your life.

It depends on what state you are in. And it is known as statutory rape.

In most states you have to be 16 to be the legal age of consent for sex with people older then 18. If you are over 16, usually only you or your parents can bring a charge against your bf, but I would recommend waiting until your next birthday, just in case. These things shouldnet be rushed anyway.

yes it is illegal. It is because anyone under 18 is considered a CHILD and can't make adult decisions. It is considered rape and delinquency of a minor if a 22 man dates a little girl of 17! So unless the 22 yr old wants to go to jail, dont date kids!

It is illegal because you are not of age until 18. That is the age where your mind is considered full grown.

5 years is a big age difference for you right now. You're still in high school, and he is out of college already. It's going to be tough for you, even when you turn 18.

it would be considered illegal to date a 17 year old girl because she's not 18.women is considered grown when they are 18 years of age.And the men is considered grow when there 21.so yeah it would be illegal a little just wait till she's 18 before the real stuff happens.

You can date but it you have sex then he is commiting statutory rape.
I was 19 and my bf at the time wasn't quite 18 yet. He had a few more months but it didn't matter to us....as we were in love.
