you are answering your own question when describing the changes in your eating habits.

By barely eating (now), your body is not getting enough calories into it so it is going into starvation mode which triggers fat storage in the body. When you actually do eat something, your body holds on to everything possible (why you rarely go #2). Also, just an outside guess, but from my early days in college, I'm going to venture a guess that you're probably drinking quite a bit on the weekends too. If this is true, the alcohol will also account for quite a bit of weight gain when combined with your eating habits throughout the week because alcohol gets metabolized and stored directly as fat in your body.

Your best bet is to up the calories that you take in and eat 5-6 small meals every 3 hours or so. This will keep your metabolism up and prevent your body from going into starvation mode. Also, ease up on the drinking on the weekend as well (if you are drinking) and you will notice that you go back to your old weight pretty quickly.

Are you drinking? I.E. Alcohol? Alcohol has alot of calories in it and could cause weight gain, especially if your "drinking your calories" (whether it be alcoholic beverages, soda, or even juice!)

Also if at home you were eating all the time, it could have also kept your metabolism up. And when you dont eat enough (you said you were hardly eating anything) then your body adjusts and will only burn the calories you need.

Try eating small meals more frequently. As long as their hasnt been a big drop in exercise, it will prolly help increase your metabolism (since you did have it before and you are still young)

Only thing I can think of about the bloating is, to much salt intake, your time of the month, or growing a beer belly hehe. (but I dont want to make any assumptions).

Also for not going number two, try eating some whole grain items, if it continues I would consult a doctor.

You can find how much calories you should be eating for your weight, height and age at www.my-calorie-counter.com and if you subtract 500 calories from what you SHOULD be eating thats a healthy diet. But you must eat a minium of that amount to lose weight the proper way.

Good luck!

What I've been told is that when u stop eating your body starts storing fat because it thinks your running out of food. Even though it sounds weird you have to start eating more smaller meals in a day then not eating at all. You should definitely have breakfast. Have some cereal , yogurt or a fruit. In between meals eat a healthy snack like some veggies or more fruit. This helps so when you eat lunch or dinner your not starving eating more than what you really need and scarfing it down. Also try avoiding gum, movement of jaw and creating saliva make your body think it's hungry and stay away from spicy food, also make your body feel hungry when not. And when eating lunch and dinner chew your food slowly. It takes your body about 20 min to make your body feel like it's full. I've been going to a dietitian for the past 2 months, along with a strict diet she also gave me these tips. So far, I've lost 15 pounds

Weigh loss pills are NOT the answer. If you detox your body for a full week, you may feel better. Also try to eat 6 times a day, ever if it is a simple snack like an apple(with the skin). Drink plenty of room temp water add some fresh lemon juice. This all aids your digestive system.

Keep in mind by not eating like you did, your body goes into starvation and it stores the food since it doesn't know when you will "feed" it again.

I had to write to you because I have been there! Believe me. If I may be blunt - constipation is the #1 way to know that what you are eating is not helping your body. I went to the Dr and in fact, I was eating all the wrong foods - they made me feel bloated, full and uncomfortable. It's hard, but I took a cold hard look at my eating habits and made some changes. I also went to the bookstore and got some books on healthy eating. There is a great book called "you are what you eat" by Gillian McKeith. I was so surprised by how accurate she was with all my symptoms and how to fix them. The book is a little tree hugger/ all natural, but it really helped me. Good luck and remember this will not change, unless you do. I feel the best I have ever felt because I started to eat lots of fruits and vegetables. I promise you will feel better!

It's so hard to eat right when you're in college but you will have to try. More fresh veggies, less soda, more lean protein, less snacking during all nighters (and maybe less beer?)... they don't call it the Freshman 15 for nothing. Find a workout buddy and hit the gym (or the tennis court, or the pool). Good luck!

You said your in collage....are you drinking a lot?
That could be the answer! Also start doing cardio or aerboics 3 days a week for at least 30 minutes. Up it to 45-60 minutes if you have to loose weight.
