This might sound a bit harsh, but I actually am serious.

When one of your biggest dreams is that this planet will come to an end and Jesus will take you in his arms and lift you up to the sky....Then you obviously have no interest in making this planet a better place for our children. Why should we, the people that care for this particular planet, give you a vote in what we do with it?

Who in their right minds would want global war? I'm a Christian, and the idea is appalling to me. I'd rather see God's Kingdom of peace and compassion on this earth and Christ reigning in love over the entire world. Anyone like Pastor John Hagee who wants to do a pre-emptive strike to set Armageddon in motion is dangerously close to being a lunatic -- at least in my opinion, anyway.

Having said that, I will remind you that voting is one of the freedoms that is given to everyone, not just the people you happen to agree with. Whether you like what a particular individual believes or not is immaterial. They have the right to cast their vote just as much as you do.

Valid point. I hear all the time out of "believers" the "End of the World" is upon us. I try to give them some hope of things being different, and examples of "human" choices that make a difference everyday, but they refuse to look at the positive side of mankind. Even medical advances that will help all of us are viewed as another step closer to the end for them. It's baffling why so many are refusing to understand that WE/ALL OF US have a choice as to what plays out on our planet, and it's sad that there are so many convinced they are powerless.

Since when did 'making this planet a better place for our children' become the touchstone for being allowed to participate in self-government? What would you think if people that didn't recognize a Supreme Being were denied the right to vote? Betcha would object. Libs think global warming will be Armageddon - should they be excluded?
Why can't you let people believe as they please, as we participate in self-government?

God will take care of the end times; he doesn't need me to try to bring it about through some weird legislation. I don't know when that time will come. Maybe tomorrow- maybe in 200 years. In the meantime, my kids have to live in the world as it is. So I DO want it to be the best possible place it can be for them to live in.

Excellent question.

The division of church and state has been an issue for hundreds, even thousands, of years. You'll just have to fight fire with fire. Convince everyone that Deep Ecology is the only "sustainable religion".

A short IQ test should also be administered at the polls.

I don't see how anybody with the feeling that everyone should believe what they believe should be part of any democracy.
