You might need two or three black ones.

No on the black marker!

That is called picking and choosing. With God, no passage inspired by God is wrong. It would be like eliminating the findings that the world is round in our own history books.

The best thing you can do, is to read the bible from the front to the back of Old and New Testament. It will give you a base to understand where it all came from and where it is today and where it is going possibly thousand of years from now.

But if you have the highlighter maybe you can use it only if you own the bible. Read 1 passage in the New Testament and see what it does for you. After a week or so ask yourself what did I do better in my life because of that scripture? Introspect with Questions like; Was I patient, was I kind to those who needed help, did I forgive my enemies, did my gossiping and complaining stop, was I a courteous driver? What did it do to me that made me a better Christian. Did I learn to trust the Lord, etc? Blessings on you for your faith in your search for Jesus in you life. hw

I use a highlighter on a Scripture that jumps out at me, and I use a marker to write notes in the margin.

Next time I read the passage, I purposefully read "between the highlighters" to the Scripture I didn't highlight. Many times I get something special out of the un-highlighted portion, because God has something different to tell me.

The Word is alive.

Depends on the highlighter, of course - thou shalt not use pink highlighter on thy Bible.

edit: after having read your other question - I seeeeeeeeeeeee lol well it's really too bad for the Christian religion itself that people read the Bible like this... Yet, there are still some people who do not use the black one - you know, I have actually met a couple of Christian believers who would talk to you AND make sense AND think logical? ...That's one of the things that prevent me from becoming a full-blooded atheist.

no harm in having a highlighter but I do not think a black marker is a good idea.

I wouldn't recommend it. The paper they use in Bibles is very thin and the highlighter and marker will bleed through.

Yeah, but exchange the highlighter for a second black marker, 'cos you're gonna need 'em!..

it's good to read a bible no matter what you highlight it in.You'll have to buy another one after highlighting it in black though.
