I am having a patriotic wedding on 07-07-07 & I have come up w/ ideas that I am definitely using. My question is, does anyone have any other ideas or new thoughts? What I am doing so far is as follows: For my tables @ the reception, I bought red & blue tablecloths, & @ shindigz.com I bought clear table cloths with white stars all over them to put over top of the red & blue tablecloths. My men are in white tuxedos w/ Cobalt blue vests & my girls are in Cherry Red tea length dresses. Also I have a white aisle runner, & my flower girl is throwing red & blue rose petals. I am also having cheesecake w/ blueberries & raspberry & strawberries for my wedding cake. I took three big star shaped hat boxes & painted one red, one white, & one blue & put red/white/blue roses on it, & that is my card box. I got red/white/blue gumballs & patriotic tootsie rolls & red/white/blue jelly beans, sparklers, CDs, & personalized red & blue matchbooks with white lettering for my favors.

I am doing this because my fiance is a veteran. You have no right to judge.

My wedding is indoors and so is the reception (I don't want to have it outdoors b/c I don't want it wreaked by the weather.) It is semi-formal and since I have 10k to work with (and weddings are so expensive) I found a great place (with great food) that charges 6.50/person and gives you three meats to have, plus side items, drinks, etc.

Also the wedding is at 3pm, and the reception starts at 6pm

I think you have just enough theme running through your plans, if you do much more it might become overwhelming, like you are shoving it down peoples throats, know what I mean. From what you have described it sounds very tasteful without being to characature-like. The only other thing I could think of that you might like is some personalized beverage napkins for your cocktail hour and then to sit on your bar during the reception, that might be something you want to add as well. (and if you shop around you can get those pretty cheap, like $18 for 100 and depending on your amount you would only need about 300 of them. I am having 100 guests and we are getting 300 napkins)

I love the bbq idea above, but I love bbq, so of couse I would love that. May I ask what you are serving and is the event indoors or out of doors. Also, how formal is the wedding, what time and all that?

I think what you have sounds great and like a fun wedding. Everybody loves the 4th!

Ok I just saw your additional details, I think you are going to be spot on with your stuff, I wouldnt add any more. Especially since its an indoor evening wedding, you dont want too much or else it wont look as classy. I think it sounds perfect!

Have so much fun!!!

although i dont understand the obsession with everyone getting married on that day (it seems every other person is getting married on that day) and no im not jelous, i was married last year., i think you have plenty going with your theme. any more, might be too much.
maybe have people light the sparkelers while you are leaving the reception. that would be really pretty.

This may be the most ridiculous question I have ever heard. First of all, the birthday of our country is July 4, not the 7th. Why not have a "7" themed wedding? You are already way over the top in slamming your theme into people's heads. You've done enough. Stop. For the love of God, stop already.
