Go to the local municipal building and look on their bulletin board for advertisements for groups that meet monthly, etc. YOu can also check at the local library or grocery store bulletin boards. You can also go out and join a book club at the local lilbary or book store, go volunteer at the animal shelter or hospital, join an athletic club (volleyball is really fun). Take your dog for a walk and smile. People will make comments about the cute dog and start conversations. Go sit on your front step and say "hi" as people walk past. Good luck and God Bless.

Hi- you answered my question, but you don't accept emails, so how can I be your friend if I can't contact you?
Moving to a new area having suffered a break-up is very hard cos you're probably punishing yourself mentally as well as trying to find yourself (what remains)... I know exactly how you feel... I once gave myself a really good talking to- that I must get out more to have a social life, so I went to the cinema by myself, but before I got there a gang of lads started hassling me & I ran all the way back too scared to do or say anything...
I'm older now so I have a somewhat different prospective, & learnt a few tricks, so email me if you want, yeh? OK?
Good luck. Take care. I wish you all the best.

It must be very daunting for you right now, but don`t worry just start by finding out about clubs and group meetings in your area. You could even start an evening class at college, there will be loads of people there to make friends with, and you will already have something to talk about. Is there a local pub? always a good place to meet local people. I met lots of people at my health club (gym) many were my own age. Don`t be too disheartened if it doesn`t happen straight away, just keep trying. Good luck, and if you need someone to talk to write to us on answers.
