Thanks for some very good answers. I do not suggest that he be removed from history books, I only wanted your opinion.
Yes, George Washington was a Freemason and so am I. There is debate about him being a Christian, I personally believe he was.

He mentioned many times about a "supreme being" in many of his addresses to congress. And as to the "freedom of religion" part, history is clear that he thought everyone had religion in one form or the other.

You got a great point to this question!!!

We need to get rid of Geo Washington to Woodrow Wilson... after all nobody alive today was here when they were here. Therefore, how do we know the "history" book is in fact all truth about what took place back then?

Let's get rid of the history books, that means... America was never found... nor was Canada or Mexico. The earth indeed is flat not round.

Washington belonged to the Freemasons, a fraternal organization. No real Christian, then or now, would join this organization that is full of "secrets".

"After the revolution, Washington frequently accompanied his wife to Christian church services; however, there is no record of his ever taking communion, and he would regularly leave services before communion — with the other non-communicants (as was the custom of the day), until he ceased attending at all on communion Sundays.[citation needed] Historians and biographers continue to debate the degree to which he can be counted as a Christian, and the degree to which he was a deist. It should also be noted that Washington was a Freemason. Even a few portraits exist of Washington in Masonic regalia." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Washington

So, if he would leave before communion... never taking communion... then it shows he is not a believer.

No. That is part of the point about not removing "religious" traditions i.e. old markers with scripture, "In god we trust" etc. Our traditions and history should remain to help us remember where we came from. There are more important things to consider and work on.

To back peddle a bit, history should endeavor to be objective and truthful.

No.

The presidency of George Bush should be removed from history books since he can't read at that level anyway.

We'd have no presidents at all if you did that.

You've really got nothing better to worry about? Sad.
