I've heard that you're not supposed to wash your hair right before you color it, rather washing it the night before is reccomended. Is this true? I was way too tired to do it last night, but it really needs it now. Should I go ahead and wash it, or am I better off just going in with dirty hair???

Ok I probably should have mentioned that I get it highlighted, so I guess that's not neccessarily the same as coloring. Does that make a difference?

NO! Color your hair unwashed and then after you color it, you will shampoo it and hopefully deep condition it! it is healthier for your hair to be conditioned and washed after the coloring since that already is doing damage to your hair.

read the directions on the box, or if ur going to a salon ask the stylist. most of them ur supposed to wash after coloring but with some u can perm ur hair before and color it. so u really need to read the box because they all are different. dont want ur hair to fall out!

you should keep it the way it is. The oilier the hair the better it applies. When you wash your hair and then try coloring, color doesn't sick on the hair and so it doesn't come out as good, and it doesn't last as long. So leave it dirty, for better results.

Colour ur hair as they are , DON'T wash them .
Because U will have 2 wash ur hair after some time of colouring !
So why should we waste the water , shampoo and conditionar with no reason ?

Your not to suppose to pre-wash your hair prior to coloring. the color will not take. That's why all haircolor kits comes with a shampoo. You shampoo after the coloring process.

Go with dirty hair because I think the hair stylist has probably seen worse hair.

Go with dirty hair. If you wash it, you'll be stripping away the natural oils that will make the dye "hold" better.

no, you should shampoo your hair. don't use conditioner. if your hair is dirty, the oils in your hair will reject the color.
