my partner has a wart on his thumb has been there ages. tried all the creams and home freezing things - no difference. went to GP they dont offer freezing treatment on nhs anymore -surprise surprise. he suggested going privately but also suggested duct tape!! has anyone ever heard of using this for warts, i think he meant to just leave the tape on not rip the wart off. or any other cheap cures to get rid of it??

Some areas do still offer freezing on the nhs as i saw someone get it just last week!!

However, i had success with posalfin ointment - you can buy it from pharmacy but will have to ask for it and may need to order it as not one of usual ones. It is an older fashoined mix of podophyllin and salicylic acid. Its a thick brown ointment which is quite messy - you apply at night and cover with a plaster. It removed my verucca in a few days. Be quite careful though as can burn healthy skin around wart.

Red Meat!!! It sounds ridiculous but works 100%!! No need for expensive treatments, pain etc..... I had a mosaic verruca on my foot for 3 and a half years and tried everything to remove it. In an act of desperation I hacked at it with nail scissors etc and left a painful series of holes on the pad of my foot. The next day I looked through the forums to see if there was anything I hadn't tried, and a post appeared about someone using wartner.... I then had a flashback of a childhood memory where my gran got rid of a huge ugly wart on my thumb when i was a child just using a piece of raw steak. She rubbed it in and around the wart and chucked it in the garden. With painful holes in my feet and having tried everything else I thought I would try it.... and it has worked..... in 2 weeks my stubborn over 3 year old verruca has gone and I can't believe it only took rubbing it with a little steak!!!! Please try this before wasting money on expensive treatments and causing yourselves unnecessary pain! I have since used this on my son for 2 of his and again they have painlessly disappeared.... I don't know why this works but it really does and I I ever have the misfortune of getting another I will just rub it with a little steak!!!!
