Would the US allow Communism to spread to a border country like Mexico? Similarly, China takes extreme offense to any push for a democratic state close to her borders such as in North Korea. If Mexico began to ally with a communist country like China, would this be seen as an act of war?

I don't see Communism in Mexico happening. China and Mexico are two totally different societies. In China, citizens have never experienced democracy, whereas in Mexico citizens do enjoy many freedoms. Citizens there would not tolerate a closed society as seen in China, Cuba and in Russia when Communism was in power. Also, if Mexico were to ever lean in that direction, the most likely response would be another Big Stick policy from the U.S. The U.S. would view Communism as a very big threat to its national security.

Also see next response from Mr. O. He makes some very good points as well.

Mexico has had a corrupt political system since the fall of Spanish rule. If Communists took power in Mexico no one would know the difference.
The net result would be the illegal aliens could then claim "political asylum" and be on an easy legal path to citizenship and receive a US government grant to boot.

an alliance between mexico and china is very, very unlikely.

culturally speaking mexico and the us are a lot closer, and many mexicans really do love the us.

also, many mexicans (at least in the border area) dislike china because china sucks away jobs with cheaper labor. the maquiladora industry was booming but took a hit once china entered the WTO and many us companies moved their mexican operations to china.

I think Mexico is at risk. This may explain the surprising weakness of this administration on border issues. We may, indeed, already be propping up the Mexican Government.

Mexico is the main mandatory and strategic country for US interest$. needless to say that they are infiltrated. i assume it particularly is their interest, isn't it? We the universal public haven't any thought approximately secret classes. i assume it particularly is why they're secret, are not they? I wish nicely and peace for the two countries. Cooperation and communicate will end obscurantism.

America, being a self-proclaimed irresponsible super power as it is today, can and will indeed interpret all such associations or relations between other countries to suit its taste!
