In most parts of the world bottled water is sold or given to you at meals. In China when you eat, Hot water is given so you can make tea. At lunch, you are given bottled water and bottled beer and either coke or sprite. This is done through out the entire country of China. I would be more concerned about the food. Do not eat salads and uncooked foods. IF you must drink local water, boil it first. You will always find bottled water in most countries.

When visiting areas with poor sanitation, take extra precautions when handling or drinking water.
Instructions

* STEP 1: Consider the following safe to drink: commercially bottled water with an unbroken seal, carbonated drinks, beverages made with vigorously boiled water, and beer.
* STEP 2: Order bottled water at restaurants and make sure the seal is opened in front of you.
* STEP 3: Avoid ice and any drinks made with tap water, such as mixed drinks.
* STEP 4: Don't use tap water when brushing your teeth. Instead, use bottled water, or add purifying tablets or iodine additives to tap water. You can also boil tap water for 20 minutes to make it safe.
* STEP 5: Try not to swallow water when showering or bathing.
* STEP 6: Consider nondisposable glasses and cups unsanitary; drink from original containers and use sanitary straws, or carry your own cups.

Tips & Warnings

* Consider any water in an unfamiliar area unsafe, unless you know otherwise.
* For boiling water, consider purchasing an immersion coil. If you are traveling to a foreign country, you may need to purchase a plug adapter and current converter to make it work.
* If you insist on forcing your body to adapt to the water, allow at least four weeks to adjust.
* Chlorine does not necessarily kill microorganisms in water.

You can get water purifying tablets from travel shops if you are worried. Don't forget to avoid ice in drinks - that's a common place people forget to think of bad water.

The last time i travelled to India, they advice us to only buy mineral bottled water from reputable hotels only.So we did.Thank god we were spared from any bad tummyaches. It may cost a lil much but it was worth it.Dont buy water/drinks from the roadsides etc.And always make sure that the bottle is always unopened before.Check the seal.

Drink from bottled water. Brush your teeth with bottled water. Go to good quality restaurants or if not, order a coke or a juice or something. If worst comes to worst you can buy water tablets from good travel stores that somehow cleanses it or santize it or something.
