I believe each person and there mebtabolism is diffrent and the lack of sleep would affect each person differently. On the whole it probably would be determental to the majority of people. There have been times, though, that I have been so "wound" up ( and not from drug use) that I've went like 3 days without sleep and functioned ok. This is not the norm for me, however.

I believe that too much of anything clouds your judgement as well. Including too much sleep!
Not enough of anything causes lacking in direct relation to whatever it was done to aid or prevent...
Moderation in all things is the balance that makes for mental and physical health.

Yes. During your sleep cycly you body naturally releases a chemical called melatonin and the body uses it to repair from many types of damages like a small scratch on your skin to dna repair. So if you rarely sleep and dont get a full cycle of restoration you might not have the same benefits as others. Although you can buy melatonin over the counter it should only be used if you dont dream well. A side effect of melatonin is vivid dreaming. So if you dont ever hardly have dreams you remeber when you wake up you could be a high target for sleep recovery processes. email me questions/concerns at emfsciences@yahoo.com

Yep. I like to go about 48-70 hours between sleep, and I know that during my 2nd 12 hour shift, generally 45 or so hours into it, I will lose my train of thought much easier. I am not sure if I should say it clouds my judgment so much, but it definitely impairs my reaction time and brain function.

Yes, it does. I don't just believe it, it has been substantiated in reasearch. Lack of sleep impairs brain function. The worst thing you can do in college is stay up late and miss sleep, but that's what most college students do.
Go to bed. You'll think a lot better in the morning.

Depends on your own system and metabolism
Some Brilliant people Are Insomniacs. And Some Total Idiots get plenty of Sleep. It is just such a variable that it proves that "Universals can only be partially converted".

Yes. It has been studied and proven that when you lack sleep, your state of mind is the equivalent to being intoxicated. Lack of sleep can become very dangerous.
