set the mood in your home and be a slave to him. Massage, dinner, bath( dont even let him lift up the soap), candles and scented things. During sex you do all the work. Head to toe. top it off with the same treatment for breakfast.

Have all his clothes ready to change in and you should have some too.

KEEP ALL PHONES OFF!!!!!!

Coming home from what? I am going to assume the armed forces, which means Iraq, so I am going to answer for that scenario,

He is probably going to be tired #1 and emotionally stressed out (I dont think that unles you have been through war that you can really appreciate what he is going to be feeling stress-wise, so be easy with him if he doesnt want to talk and stuff)
The first night, which is his birthday, I would have everyone over and get some food and drinks and let him have a welcome home party with all of his family (including your parents and siblings). No doubt his family will have been just as freaked as you have been while he's been over there, so it would be nice if you let everyone see his face. Then the next day I would suggest you take him away some where if you can afford it. Somewhere quiet where he can just relax for a couple days and you both can reconnect and spend some much needed kissing and cuddle time together. Dont plan activities because he probably wont want to do anything, just laze around the hotel pool (if they have an indoor pool thats a plus because you both can relax by the pool no matter the weather) and eat good food and enjoy each other.

As for a gift, I'd take a trip to Victorias Secret and get something very pretty!

Good luck and give him my thanks for serving!

Invite your mutual friends over for cake and ice cream. Buy balloons, make a big, colorful banner. Set a time limit for the party so that you and he can have some time to yourself when the people leave.
If cost is important, you can find balloons, plates, cups, napkins etc. at the Dollar Stores for 1/3 to 1/2 the cost of those in other stores.
Order a decorated cake at the grocery bakery and they will put what you want on it.
Wear pretty clothes and a big smile. TaDah!!!!!

Maybe surprise him with a, "I know you're working so hard for me, so I'm not going to break your wallet for one day."

Not to be rude, but if he IS breaking his back to pay for your wedding, is it worth it for one day?

We made out our guest list and it was at least 75-100 people that would be invited. My fiance started working extra hours. I talked to my parents about it, and my mom said for me to tell him not to because they needed to pay for it. Turns out he wasn't just working the extra hours for the wedding, but to wipe out some extra bills so we can be better off financially.

Nonetheless, we all got together to discuss the wedding. My parents are not rich, so we did some much needed trimming on our invites (some of those people I never even talk to). We trimmed it down to 20 people on each side (That's just our parents, siblings, grandparents...I only have one that'll be coming...aunts and uncles and cousins). There will probably be a few more. Some of our friends are in the wedding party and his best friend actually is going to preach our wedding. Not only does it make catering a lot cheaper, but it also cuts down on paying for a location. My fiance's aunt also has a nice piece of land that would be nice to have it on. We're probably going to look into that this weekend. I'm also going to find a nice, inexpensive wedding dress.

Oh, and ya know what. We were originally planning our wedding for 6 months away, now we might be having it NEXT MONTH. How exciting. I'm gonna be married next month. I'm gonna be in my own home or apartment next month with my husband! We're going to be able to be with each other all day. I miss him so much when I'm not with him. I've gotten used to taking naps with him on his futon to the point it's difficult to sleep without him. I'm gonna be able to sleep with him next month and nobody can say anything about it. We're also going to get a little doggie! Hehe. I'm so happy!

So there, that last paragraph should be the most important thing: Being with your new husband. Think about that one!

If there's anything he's mentioned he wants to do/have/see in the past, now's the time to do it. Something he may have mentioned in passing. Doesn't have to be sexual. Could be a video game console or a dartboard. Do that, and you will have basically granted a wish.
