Who said it? & why is it your favourite?

This is one of mine:
“Some people wear their smile like a disguise. Those people who smile a lot, watch their eyes. I know 'cause I'm like that a lot. You think everything's ok, and it is . . . 'till it's not.”
~Ani DiFranco

My friend sent this to me and I thought it was so good I had to share. Don't know who wrote it though...

The road to success is not straight. There is a curve called Failure, a loop
called Confusion, speed bumps called Friends, red lights called Enemies, caution
lights called Family. You will have flats called Jobs. But, if you have a spare
called Determination, an engine called Perseverance, insurance called Faith, a
driver called Jesus, you will make it to a place called Success.

My favorite quote is : "Well behaved women seldom make history." ~ Laurel Thatcher Ulrich
It really embodies the spirit of the independent woman.

But most people have the luxury of not knowing when that clock's going to go off. And the irony of it is that that keeps them from really living their life. It keeps them drinking that glass of water but never really tasting it.

The longer I live the more I see that I am never wrong about anything, and that all the pains that I have so humbly taken to verify my notions have only wasted my time

The nice thing about rain, is that it always stops. Eventually.

The only thing standing between me and total happiness is reality

"He who asks a question is a fool for a minute; he who does not is a fool forever." I like this one because it's true. You may be in the middle of class and not know what some thing means and not want to ask the question because of how stupid you think it is but if you don't ask then, you'll never know what it means and live your life in ignorance.

"Sometimes the cruelest lies are told in silence"
This is my favorite quotation because it very well describes today's humanity.
This part of the sentence gives it away
"cruelest lies are told in silence"
Why?
Hypocrisy
Criticism
Keeping the truth and not revealing it its just as good as liying.

Another one is...
"If you cry cause you can't see the sun light, the tears won't let you see the stars."
No matter what they problems is, there is always something good that you can get out of it

"To lose one parent, Mr Worthing, may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose both looks like carelessness. " -Oscar Wilde, "The Importance of Being Earnest"

Definitely a quote that caught me by surprise, but it is quite funny considering the setting and social aspects of the characters in the play itself.

If the secret sorrows of everyone could be read on their forehead, how many who now cause envy would suddenly become the objects of pity.

"The overman...Who has organized the chaos of his passions, given style to his character, and become creative. Aware of life's terrors, he affirms life without resentment. "
-Friedrich W. Nietzsche

It's a counter-attack on nihilism. It's a life-affirming quote that helps when you lost all other reason.

"The cynics are right nine times out of ten." -- H.L. Mencken

My only disagreement with the great writer is that he seems to have underestimated by a tad exactly how often the cynics are correct.

Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.
