An infection in the mouth, go to the dentist, could be an ulcer, or go to the doctor, as it could be another kind of infection.

It is worrying you so go as soon as possible.

Good luck.

throbbing, a lot of reasons...(though should't be anything to worry about if it is sparse in occurence)
Faster hearbeat could be because if you had some kind of injury to ur upper spine. So do ask yourself if you had some pain lately in your upper spine...(in which case doing simple back stretching before sleep or giving a visit to the chiropractor...or in a serious case to your physican might help.)
You might want to cut down on your salt intake or anything with sodium (you've probably heard of that)
Tight Clothing could be a factor. (sleep loose, do sleep in a warm bed)
It could be constricted blood vessels, so warming the area might help as well
....or it could simply be twitching which can sometimes be mistaken for throbbing.
Hope this gives you some idea...
you can get comprehensive help from medical forums online
as well.

hope it helps
