1. Wind energy requires massive amounts of space. To generate enough wind energy to power the United States. It would require an area the size of Texas.

2. Wind turbines are very loud. Have you ever been near one? I have and I would not want to live with in several miles of one. You cannot force people to put up with the noise.

3. They kill birds. Imagine how many birds there are in an area the size of Texas. Imagine all those birds are dead. That would have a massive impact on the environment.

Some may think wind energy kills birds. I am a wildlife major and I know this person who does environmental impact studies on the Kenedy Ranch on the Texas gulf coast around Corpus Christi (since I go to school at Texas A & M University - Kingsville). His studies have shown that the causalities have been one bird per propeller per year that is just as many birds that get killed by cars. The only bad thing about wind energy is that there are not enough transmission lines to get the energy from point a to point b. If there were enough transmission lines then we would be using wind energy much more.

Wind energy can also be picked up in our nation's capital, because of all the politicians. If only we could get them to know the importance of natural resources.

You also have to factor in that they are not as efficient as advertised. There are several cases where the wind farm used more petroleum than it generated in energy due to design flaws and bad site planning. Some references are given.
