eat imitation seafood like imitation crab meat, it works for me. I developed an allergic reaction when I was on vacation too. Go to the allergist an take a RAST skin test and this will help you determine what kinds of seafood you can eat.

If by saying 'around' you mean you want to eat it... If you're allergic, you have to stay away from it, period! Allergies get worse with each exposure, so I wouldn't chance it. Talk to your doctor about it if you're really feeling the need to eat shellfish and see if he/she has any suggestions. If 'around' means you're constantly surrounded by it, carry an epi pen and make sure the people around you know of your allergy and know how to use the pen!

There is no cure for the allergy and it can be fatal depending on how bad it is. Stay away from fish.
