It would be about 10 feet or so high off the ground. We already have stairs and a landing, just need a deck.
We live in a relatively rural area in the south.

I'm looking for a ballpark figure on how much it would be to have someone build it. We can stain it ourselves.

One website listed about ~$2000 or so, but said it would be $3000 if you are not the "contractor".

A 10' x 12' deck is not very large. It is only 120 square feet. Since you already have a landing and stairs, you will save a lot of money. It sounds like you are replacing an existing deck. I assume, if that is the case, that you are demolishing the old deck yourself and will not have to pay a contractor to do it for you.

Deck construction is a highly competitive business. Prices between reputable contractors are usually fairly close. In my area of the upper south, prices range between $9.00 and $13.00 per square foot for the deck alone. Final price usually depends on the type of railing, height off of the ground, grade of deck surface lumber, and type of fasteners used. Using these numbers, your deck should cost somewhere between $1,080.00 and $1,560.00 to have built.

Good luck with your deck project.

Count on $10,000 easily. Don't know where those website numbers are coming from, they sound like price for just the lumber and supplies.
