I like putting some Lipton Onion Soup mix into the meat. That's a cheap and easy way to add flavor to hamburgers... but if you're working on a perfect blend of spices, this is probably not what your looking for. I love it, though!

I went to the 21 Club in NY and they had the best burgers i've ever had (given they were $21)... They did something like Chicken Keiv, where they put some hardened butter spice mixture in the middle before cooking and let it melt. I also like to cut up some onions, fry them a little, and put them in. I do the same with bacon sometimes (fry until it is as raw as you'd eat it and put it in - it cooks a little more and is mad good).
I believe I saw a recipe for the 21 club burgers somewhere but I'm not sure where.

First off, sirloin and top round ground beef are the better meats. Use those. The way I make mine? I marinade the beef in Worcestershire sauce and a little bit of mustard over night. The next day, I get whole grain or wheat bulkie rolls and cut those in half (if you like sweetbread bulkies, those will work too.) start up the barbecue and start slow cooking the burgers, I also dab a little BBQ sauce on the top... hickory or pepper BBQ sauce is best... nothing sweet. Provolone Cheese a slice of onion and a little bit of ketchup. That's my signature burger...

The answer is in the cooking, not the spices. Grill high quality 80/20 ground beef in patties on an open flame and you've got the base for the best burger. The 20% fat keeps it juicy and the open flame made with charcoal (not propane or electricity) will add all the flavor you need.

Buy london broil and shape it into a patty. sprinkle with garlic powder and grill. We had burgers last night and they were soo good. LB has little to no fat so you might have a little trouble "pattying" them. Just keep packing them tightly and you'll get them to stay. =] enjoy
