Have little goals or achievments or a to-do list for yourself. Make sure you get time out, do what you want and be happy. Focus on yourself for a while. I haven't had the easiest life by far, but by setting little things ahead I can focus on them and ejoy them. It takes my mind off stuff. I don't want to go into full detail about my past on here, but if you wih you can email me.
I set things like; Get to a healthy weight, spend time with people even if its just talking for hours, go to the theatre a few times a year. Do something new - I had a tattoo done last week, my first and I intend on getting more. Go out for meals with your partner or friends. Plan a holiday at some point. etc etc. Its all about taking your mind off it.

Never, you can place them in the back of your mind, but they are never truly forgotten.
Sometimes when you think you have forgotten them, something you see or heard will make the memory come to the fore front of you mind again, but with time, it will be easier to place them back again.
So no you never really forget, they just pop up now and again, it's your past and to be honest it something has happened to you, if you forget it then you will think it didn't happen when it did. The badness will eventually become less painful, but it is part of your life, it's makes you who you are.

this has always worked for me talking about it. if it is to hard to talk about look in the mirrow and talk to yourself. its almost like a dream once you tell what you dreamed about you forget what the dream was most of the time.and remember what ever your past there are hundreds of thousands of other people have the same type past you are not alone.there is no way to go back to yesterday but there are all kinds of ways to go into tomorrow. forgive and forget and move on..;;;;;;;;;

By not looking back. Think and plan for your future. Dream a dream. Enrol in something you have always wanted to do but didn't find the time. Keep occupied with things you enjoy and people you love. Give yourself a goal, a target. Be happy for yourself, be lovely for yourself. Choose to be happy every moment you are awake. Choose to think positive.

You won't forget but you can learn to deal with and understand them and move on to better things.
