Violent movies are to be avoided. Christians heed the inspired counsel of long ago: “Do not become envious of the man of violence, nor choose any of his ways. For the devious person is a detestable thing to Jehovah, but His intimacy is with the upright ones.” Proverbs 3:31, 32.
Violent movies and TV programs are bad in the eyes of Jehovah. They can be considered bad association. 1 Cor. 15:33. Like everything else, we must be selective in whatever we do.

We should not watch violence or other sinful activity because our minds are like a computer, in the sense that, if you put garbage in, garbage will come out in our thoughts, speech and at times actions.
1 John 2:15 - Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

God does not hate violence, he hates sin. So he hates it when you dont do what he says. In the old testiment he would kill or destroy if you did not do what was told to you. As far as TV goes, IMHO no true christian should turn the TV on, amongst other things. I myself am not christian. But i do not watch TV also. It is filled with deceit, i'd rather pick up a book, and research things for myself. But if i had any baring on "God" i'd destroy everything that revolved around the media.

We need to be challenged by God's word, and obey. As an individual, I am working on submitting all areas of my life to him, with his help. This is an area that needs to be addressed, in my opinion, so that we can draw closer to him. Is violence the only concern? TV and the movies promote all kinds of Godless junk. On the other hand, entertainment on its own is not un-Godly - plenty of it is just neutral.
Good question, and a difficult challenge.

It's not real violence. Just staged, like the modern version of a play or dance.
Who says God hates violence? According to the bible he ordered the Israelites to slaughter everyone in their path.
The Christian/Jewish/Muslim god has had holy wars fought in his name resulting in the destruction of many civilisations nad cultures.
Sounds like he's a divine psychopath who loves violence.

This would have to be related to the perpetrators of said violence, The movies and television are instruments of entertainment.
Consider this, the biblical reference you are using pertains to those that are willfully seeking gratification from imposing their villainy on others.
The Word is often used to impart morality and norms. Be less literal in your interpretation.

We should eschew violence when it is portrayed for "cinematic" dressing as in today's films. Violence is not necessarily a solution to any problem. In response to Jason H's reply I would add that in the time frame of the Bible, man was just as prone to dispute as he is now and man (erroneously) embraced violence then as a viable solution to disputes just as he does now.

God can't hate lovers of violence since he has sent many people to do his killing for him. Plenty of scripture describing God's violence against man. Why should man be any different from God? We were created in his image.

God little doubt approves of the martial arts and the discipline it takes to be arranged to take care of one's kith and kin. That stated, a video recreation isn't a martial paintings in any experience and wrestling is amazingly constrained in it rather is fee for risk-free practices (flamboyantly constrained).
