First, it's NEVER normal to have blood in your urine. Blood in the urine is called hematuria. Hematuria is one of the signs of kidney stones, but it could also be caused by other conditions like infection or injury.
Best advice, go get a urinalysis from your physician, that's a good starting point. Also, look for other associated signs, like sharp flank pain---> stone; fever or burning urination--->infection; recent fall or injury--->trauma.

Yes you can have blood in your urine if you have kidney stones. If the stones become dislodged from their location in the kidney and move you can experience hematuria (blood in the urine). Or if the stone travels from the kidney to one of the ureters (your body's way of trying to "pass" the stone) also.
Have you been diagnosed with a kidney stone & are just waiting to pass it?
If you're just guessing, based on your symptoms of blood in the urine, you may only have a bladder infection...which can also have the potential of causing blood in the urine. If you don't know for sure, you should see your doc & have them order a simple KUB x-ray (Kidneys/Ureters/Bladder).

Blood in the urine is never normal. It is not unexpected when kidney stones come through because they rip the ureter.
