He sits on his cage and shrieks, squawks, and is generally loud especially in the morning. My sister says he is finding his voice, but I have heard that unhappy parrots are very loud. Should I be worried.

I think seymour is around 5 months old.

I agree with Amaebi. Birds generally have calls for the beginning and the end of the day. They are checking on their flock families. Yours just wants to be sure you all made it through the night. It's a scary world out there and birds fall prey to preditors in the dark, (owls, hawlks, eagles) so it's important for them to make sure everyone is there. Same with the night call. Did you all make it to a safe place for the night. I have an African Grey, their flock family roosts in the same tree so you can imagine the horror if one of their siblings didn't show up at night or wasn't there in the morning. Just give out a call, tell him you're alright and to play nice. Make sure he has plenty to entertain himself with until you get up. Mine has a bowl of toys, when I go to get her, everyone is out of the bowl and on the floor of the cage.

One explanation I heard is that birds normally need to call out to other birds in the morning just to announce themselves. He might be trying to respond to other birds outside (wild birds). But for the most part, my birds love to make noise in the early morning. I've noticed that the early morning is also the time when wild birds also sing like crazy ('early birds'). Not sure if that is the problem, but I found this in a few books and have experienced it at home.
