We took him to the vet at 12:30 last night/this morning and he said he had either eaten slug pelets or extasy!!! Neither me or my bf have ever taken any drugs but one of our neighbours we know does! I'm really worried about him, he is on a drip and is sedated and they're traying to flush whatever it is out. Has anyone had the same experience?

Thanks for all your answers, fingers crossed he is respoding to his new medication and has stopped shaking and drooling. We hopefully should have him home by the end of tomorrow. Still unsure of what caused it, I just hope it wont happen again, it was terrifying.

Sorry you are having to go through this! Cats can and do recover! Other people can and do use things that are poisonous to our pets and I doubt it has been given it on purpose (though the possibility is there) The vet will do all he/she can to save it and with luck the treatment has been given quickly enough! Try not to worry too much (easier said than done - I know) If possible try and find out where and what the cat has eaten and ask your neighbours politely to be more careful in future! Also point out the fact that it could have been a child (they like animals don't always recognise drugs and poisons)

One of my cats picked up some poison from somewhere and had to go on a drip in the vets too. I think my neighbour had put rat poison down inside her outhouse, and my cat probably caught a mouse that had eaten it. That was 8 years ago and she's fine.

If your cat can pick up poison or drugs from your neighbours, then so could any young children around. You might want to consider that when wondering if to report your neighbour.

One of my family cats when i was a kid got killed by rat poison in someones garden. But i doubt it that as it would be more immediate. You have done the right thing, you have gone straight to the vets and hopefully you baby will be fine now. Animals will pretty much pick anything up you have to be incredibly careful when loosing them out. I hope he will be ok good luck

Hiya, Yes many years ago my cat's ate slug pellets, they were ill and they were staggering around as if they were drunk. They were the first cat's we had ever owned so we did not know they would eat the slug pellets. They were both fine after a few days i had to keep them in for a week though, and change my slug deterrent.

Yes but not with a cat. My sister is a hairdresser and one of her clients dogs ate a pill it found in a park when it was out for a walk, it turned out to be ecstasy too. the dog was alright after a couple of days of being poorly.

Hug... sopunds sccidental... hope nobody would be sick enough to try and get a cat high... its not a human and look at bodyweight difference... maybe ask around if anything could have hurt the cat

It might be something someone dropped outside. I'm so sorry, but I'm sure he's in good hands with the vet, they know what they're doing.

My grandmas dog ate rat poisoning once, had to get her stomach pumped.

Also if you know a neighbor is doing drugs and if they are illegal, you have a responsibility to call the cops.

dont worry your cat is in good hands now, I have dealt with many cats that have been fed rat poison, Greece still seems to think that its a good way of exterminating them.
Its horrible to see and heartbreaking.
Your cat will be fine.
