It starts with a desire. Is that desire is strong enough, it will lead to strength and determination. With that strength and determination you replace your bad habit with a good one every time you feel the urge to do the bad one. Scientists say it takes roughly 3 weeks to break a bad habit - so focus on that goal and do NOT give up.

Some measures you can take to help you are to have an accountability partner - someone that you share your goal with and holds you to your goals. You can also write in a journal every day you make it through successfully. this will build up your self-esteem and give you fuel for the next day's challenges.

Best wishes.

Everyone has a certain passion. Passion can be positive or negative. Habits are acquired as one grows up and often habits are reinforced with the natural passion of the person. It is not easy to replace bad habits with good qualities - but nothing is impossible if one has the good will. For if there is the will, there is the way! Just a bit of example: if I have the bad habit of buying 2 bottles of wine a week for my own satisfaction, I try to buy only one bottle and give the money meant for the other bottle to poor people. Or, if I like to gossip about the person whom I do not like - I try my best not to gossip but instead say something good about him.

It is said in studies that it takes 21 days to break and make a new habit. I think it's longer then that. I think it takes 21 days of consistent hard training to get a foundation laid out to create a routine, but consistency is what breaks bad habits and puts good ones in their place. First, you have to break off whatever is enabling your bad habit. If it's drugs then drop your friends that do it, or at least til you get better and then become phone friends. Whatever makes it easier for you to enable your bad habit, drop it. Be in a supportive and clean environment to create good qualities, do healthy things in their place. Anything from exercise, to learning to cook. Anything that isn't harmful to you or anyone else and you and/or your body can benefit from, because once your mindset changes your body will follow. It's the will power you have to make work first.

I'm not sure how to do that but i do kno dat if you do something 27 times in a row (not all at the same time, but how you would normally do it in your everyday life) that it becomes a habit. So everytime your about to do something ya kno is a bad habit do the good quality instead. Eventually (after 27 times) you won't even have to think about it. Except i dont think that works for an addiction... hmm... anyways, hope this helps!!!
