I have a flycatcher of some sort. I know he is a wild bird, but I didn't catch him. He chose to come live with me. He was on my husband's car last summer when he got out of work and he opened the door, the bird flew in and rode home on his shoulder.

He would not eat solid foods. We had to feed him bird formula. I offered him solids and he wouldn't take them for a few weeks. I'm not sure what to feed him because flycatchers aren't pets and there aren't a lot of resources for me. On a daily basis I've been giving him mealworms, blueberries, some cockatiel bird seed (He eats them in small amounts, though I don't know if he should eat them, which is why I ask), and some millet (also not sure if this is good but he likes it). On occaison I have given him strawberries and I also give him all the potato bugs or spiders from my basement.

I've tried to train him to feed himself but he's clueless. He wont eat unless I give it to him on a skewer or I put it in his dish. I

I did call a wild bird lady, and she said non-citrus fruits were good as treats on the side or an all meat diet, and that flycatchers like blueberries. I'm just not capable of catching flies so I don't know if I need to get better at it, or if the bugs I've been using are okay.

You need to contact a Licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator in your area. You can find this person by contacting your local veterinarian or a Department of Natural Resources office. When you call explain that you need a number (or numbers if possible) of a Licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator. Licensed Wildlife Rehabilitators are permitted through their state to take in wildlife with the goal of eventual release into the birds natural habitat. He/she will know how to feed this bird and how to encourage it to act like he/she would normally act in the wild. In the mean time, interact with it as little as possible (if the bird is too dependent on human interaction and/or humans for a food source, then the bird may never be able to be readjust to its natural environment). For an animal to be considered "releasable" it must be able to do the following: find/recognize its natural food source, identify a nesting site, and be able to recognize its natural predators.
Side note: Licensed Wildlife Rehabilitators do not receive funding from local, state, or federal government so most work. Give him/her until the end of the day to return a call.

Sounds like he was hand raised from a chick and got loose.

The name flycatcher pretty much gives away what you should feed it. Bugs, insects, meal worms, grubs, etc. They are carnivours, so they need a meat only diet. Stick with the meal worms, spiders, potato bugs, etc

Saying that, you should probably contact your local wildlife rehabilitator. Most vets or SPCA branches will have a list of the ones in your area. There are some pretty severe laws (at least in the US) concerning having a wild animal in your house without the proper permits. Even if it wasn't your choice, the fines can be pretty high.
