It just means that you take a swing at the ball with your club in a smooth way and not trying to jerk or wack or scoop the ball up from the dirt. The club face has the loft to lift the ball already so let it does it's job!! The idea is to swing the club face passing through the ball as if the ball just happens to be in the path of the club face!

Hope that helps.

It just means that let the loft of the club do his job getting the ball up. Sometimes players try to hit under the ball to get it to fly, and thats not right. Other times players try to force yards into clubs, like hitting a 7i for 200 yds. Letting the club to the job means get the right club for the desired high and/or distance.

I watch the Golf Channel all the time, so I know what it means:

It means that you shouldn't try to help the ball in the air. Hit down on it and the loft of the club will do the work of getting the ball in the air, you don't have to help it.

In my opinion, this statement really means nothing. If you want to be a great golfer, you must have proper mechanics (swing plane, grip, etc.). This quote implies that you should just "swing" at the ball, meaning that your don't have to have a good golf swing to be a great golfer. This is absolutely not true. Ignore this quote.
