actually though I know it is scary that is not that high of a temperature. you can alternate tylenol with motrin. temperature doesn't have to go all the way down to normal as a fever is your body's way of fighting off infection on it's own. dress him in cool- not cold- clothing. I would say he will be fine until this afternoon. by the way will he take a popsicle?

I love it that all these people tell you to go to the ER/DR. If your son continues to run a fever which technically is 102 or higher for more than 24-36 hours then take him to the Dr. However try to bring it down yourself with Tylenol or Motrin. Try to offer him juices rather than milk or a popsicle or jello. A lukewarm bath and lots of cuddling. If it doesn't go away in that time frame or gets extremely high then make the appointment. I'm assuming you already have one for him this afternoon.
He'll be okay there is no need to freak out and run up a doctor bill.
Good Luck and I hope he gets better soon.

A lukewarm sponge bath, loose fitting clothes and infant Tylenol or Motrin. It's very important for the baby to drink because the biggest risk from fever in infants and toddler is dehydration.

That temp is not really that high and can probably wait until the afternoon to see the doctor.
Until then.....give him a lukewarm bath....let him run or lay around in as little as possible and no blankets....also you can alternate tylenol and motrin every 4 hours to help keep it down.

A cool bath helps a lot after giving tylenol. When my daughter had a bad fever (over 103) we gave her tylenol and I climbed in a cool bath with her. She laid in my arms, nursing, and we just hung out for about 30 minutes. We took her temp after we got out and it had gone down 5 degrees.

my daughter had a temp. of 103.6 a couple weeks ago and I gave her tylenol and made sure she was cool by taking her pjs off and in less than an hour it was going down. See if he will at least eat a popsicle or something like that.

If you can't wait that long, go to the ER, but he should be ok until the afternoon. Tylenol, motrin, anythign that has a fever reducer. Give him a bath to try and break the fever.

give him an infant suspension, preferably one containing ibuprofen (it brings the temp down quicker). strip him off and put a cold, wet cloth on his head.
Keep your eye on him though, if he doesn't respond to you, develops a rash or gives you any other cause for major concern take him to the hospital.
But if he stays alert, just wait til you can see the doctor.

You do not need to incur a $700 ER room visit expense.
Give him popsycles take his clothes off, wipe him down with a cool wet wash cloth.

try alternating btw the tyenol and the motrin... give him a bath, or put cool compress on him... my daughter had a fever of 103.5 and all we did was give her a cool bath gave her motrin and tried to keep her as cool as possible...
If his fever gets any higher take him to the ER... is he teething? or sick?
