You need to expand your horizons but joining groups of people doing something you are comfortable doing (join a reading group at the local library or book store, join an athletic group (volleyball is a lot of fun), volunteer at the local animal shelter or hospital. When you meet new people while you are comfortable doing something you will not notice it as much and you won't automatically clam up. Most people are actually unsure of themselves but proceed thru the uncertainty and fear. Some people have a harder time pushing thru the uncertainty and feel very anxious about new situations. By involving yourself in things you like, enjoy, are comfortable with you can expand your horizons on your terms and will most likely feel a lot less anxious in these situations. Good luck and God Bless.

If you are over 18, get a friend join a gym and go work out! This will help you in many ways. Maybe also get involved in anything in your home town for Volunteering ?

I am / was just like you. I used to even get physically sick. I found the best way was to realize that everyone really is the same some people just portrait their shyness or being nervous about meeting people in different ways.

So, take everything in a positive way. If someone give you a compliment or opens a door go out of your way to look them in the eye and say "Thank-You"

Have you read the book "The Secret" ???

Hope this helps,

You have to force yourself to get out there no matter how uncomfortable. The more you get out the more comfortable and outgoing you will become. It is based on fear, and the only way to be rid of our fears are to face them.

As long as you're aware of it, you can change it by catching yourself when you feel you're doing it.
