I'm having a St. Patty's day party and we were planning on getting a 1/2 keg of beer. I need to know what the 1/2 keg is equivelent to in cases of beer. Please tell me!! We are having about 18 BIG DRINKERS over, so I would say I need at least "2 cases" of beer.

The standard "keg" is called a 1/2 barrel. It contains nearly 16 gallons of beer. The smaller version is called a quarter barrel and contains about 8 gallons. Full barrels are 32 gallons but have not been in production for many years. A half barrel contains 1984 ounces or 165 12 oz beers. That's about 7 cases. A quarter barrel will contain half that, nearly 3.5 cases. Due to many years of shame full behavior, I am certain that 18 "Big Beer Drinkers" will drink much more than two cases of beer. A quarter barrel would equate to about 4.6 beers per person. If its a long party and they're lushes you probably need a half barrel, about 9 12oz beer per person.

3.5 cases. A keg has 1984 ounces. 1 case of 12 ounce bottles = 288 ounces.

I don't drink beer, but I managed to get this web address that should adequately cater to your needs. Cheers!
