i know this is mean but i really do think 'how did you let yourself get like that'

i mean i slob out, eat alot and dont exercise enough from time to time but dont get that big i just dont understand how they do. But then i think some people DO have medical conditions and can't help it but you never can tell. I'm slightly ashamed to be so judgemental

Initially, when I read your question, I wasn't going to answer because I really don't have any thoughts about overweight people when I first see them. I have my own weight issues, and have been all kinds of weights, from 100 lbs in my teens, to over 200 lbs after pregnancies.
What made me decide to answer were some of the other answers you received. Because of the fact that I have hypothyroidism, which was not discovered for over 20 years, I have been struggling with my weight since the fifth month of my first pregnancy in 1982.
So those people who answered you that fatties should just stop eating pizza and junk food, should just think first before they make snap judgments.
You never know what is actually happening in someone else's life.

That individual must really hate themselves is my first thought. I always think there's a void in their lives that they try to fill with food. I know that's not always the reason for people being overweight.

For people who think that thinking something negative about overweight people is shallow & being hung up on appearances I'd offer this. A person can't help it if they are born ugly or deformed but unless you have a medical problem like hypothyroidism then it is your fault if you're groosly overweight. Have some self respect and get off the sweets and exercise.

There's getting to be more and more severly obese people, at least I see more of them than I did years ago. I'm not sure exactly what I feel, I never really thought about it until now.... but I think I feel something like shame or embarrassment FOR them, maybe pity, I am not sure how to describe what I feel, but I do feel something. It isn't disgust, or revulsion, it's closer to pity. And I also wish more obese people would stop trying to wear the same type clothes as slimmer people, I mean like tight T-shirts that show a belly gap. or shorts that show big hanging flaps of thigh....... now that I DO find disgusting. Be big, but cover it up, please!

Reindeer, it is good to see you back again!

In my opinion, it is a sad fact of life that people judge on appearance. They've usually made up their minds about you within 90 seconds. It doesn't have to related to a weight problem, just any aspect of their appearance.

In today's world, there is so much pressure on people to conform to a certain "norm" through images portrayed in the media. Regardless of the fact that some people have illnesses which make them overweight.

I do feel sorry for them too. My sister is larger than i am and sometimes i feel sorry for her but at other times i don't as i know she is a secret eater. I always come across wrappers in her car and bag which isn't good.
I agree with you i think it is emotionally linked. A lot of people turn to food when they are sad. I actually feel sorry for people who aspire to be a size zero. They are the ones with the real problems.

Depends on where they are at. If they are hanging around the food bar and picking at all the fatty foods then, I'll say something, literally. " And you wonder why you are fat", right in front of everybody. They constantly cry about their weight so, I help them out a bit. A good insult will keep 10 pounds off that day.

I think is it their health? Can they lose the weight or is it their life now. I have struggles with weight sometimes, and I do manage to keep my weight down, it makes the person think about it every day.

I think you greedy pig! Then I feel slightly guilty. then i think - no - in most cases they should just eat less s hit food and do more exercise. And if i see a whole family of fatties I think - those poor kids - they don't stand a chance with those inadequates for parents.
