You are correct that the story of Noah getting drunk after the flood is the first mention of alcohal in the scriputres. It has caused some specualtion that fermentation may not have been a process before the flood. That it was changes in the atomsphere, etc, which allowed fermentation to begin after the flood. That may explain why Noah got druck - before the flood there was no fermentation, so he did not know the wine would have that affect. But there is nothing specific in the scriptures that say "yes" or "no" to alcohal being common before the flood.

But as it does not affect salvation one way or the other, it is kind of a non-issue really.

But a good question....shows you were paying attention to your reading.

The first mention of wine in the Bibleis in Genisis 9:21 - And he (Noah)drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.

The use of additional resources would be required to determine when the fermentation of grapes originated

I've made homemade wine for years. It is a very simple fermentation process that only takes a month or so.

I think so. The first mention of wine was mentioned after the Ark had landed and Noah and his family were out and living on land again. Noah made the first wine out of grapes, and he got drunk. But here are other verses in the Bible that mentions wine. And ther was wine in the NT where Jusus turned the water into wine at the wedding. You can get a concordance and look up the verses on wine.

In the old testament the story tells us how Noah was drunk after drinking wine and "sinned" in his tent. I think that might be the earliest mentioning of wine.

There are indications that alcohol has been used by humans since paleolithic times. Some archaeologists have suggested that it was originally developed as a means of dealing with tooth-ache.

all you need is a years worth of grapes and the idea that you have to store it for the future, so theoreticaly it would take 1 or 2 years to get going.

Apparently it's been around forever in many different forms not just wine...
Every culture has their own way of producing alcohol with what ingredients they have...
Personally...I'm glad someone came up with the idea.
To quote Benjamin Franklin...
"Beer is Gods way of telling us he loves us."
