My son is 7. He likes gatorade more than juice. Does anyone think that he will be losing out on vitamins by drinking gatorade instead of juice on a regular basis? He is slender, doesn't really like candy, and loves vegetables. He also likes to play all kinds of sports so he is very active. I don't want him to loose out on necessy nutrients. Your thoughts please.

Gatorade can only SOMETIMES replace juice considering he's very active. Gatorade is an electrolyte replacement and hydration beverage. It has NO vitamins while juice does. Give your kid both, he needs the vitamins in juice.

Remember also that Gatorade is fairly high in sugar. If your kid is active and stays thin, go for it. It can be a hidden source of calories to think about for chubby kids.

Also give him lots of water.

Water is good for you.

I would ask a doctor first. Gatorade basically acts like salt and helps retain the water in your body so you don't sweat it all out. This is good if you're an athlete so you do not become dehydrated, but for a kid this may not be good. Definitely ask a family physician first.

Gatorade is even better for him than juice. Get him to try stuff like Propel, too. Even fewer Calories and lots of vitamins.
