I have heard two views on this.
Kabbalah says it is the death, or loss of the heavier
soul body, and turning into pure spirit.
Revelation speaks as if it is a Bad Thing!
Could there be a Spiritual Death? Not the end of the essence of what the spirit is. But the individuality of the entity?

There's only one death for each of us. When we die, we are just dead. There are no spirits. Souls are just superstition.

According to Revelation, the unrighteous suffer the second death. Most everyone suffers the 1st death - the grave, where there is no knowledge of anything, but the person is "asleep" as Jesus put it.

Then, when Jesus returns the righteous are caught up in bodily form to heaven for 1,000 years. During that time the books are opened to them so they can see why their friends/relatives are not there and that God is just in His decisions. And they sit in judgment of the fallen angels.

After the 1,000 years Jesus returns to earth with the New Jerusalem & the saved people.

Satan tries to over take the city with the unsaved people as their last battle of defiance.

Fire comes down from heaven and destroys the wicked people & angels, consuming them. They are "burned up" as Peter describes. This is the 2nd death. They are destroyed for eternity, eternal punishment in which the punishment will not be undone.

The old earth has passed away, Jesus creates the earth new (Peter) and in effect we walk on the ashes of Satan (OT).

Death is Death - not a continuation in a different form. God is the only one described in the Bible as being immortal.

It is about the theology of a religion other than mine. In the Hindu philosophy, there is death to the soul. It is immortal. It is within each individual. At death, the physical body, dies, and the soul within is released from the physical confines of the body. The Soul or Self remains in entanglement of birth and death, as long as the karma is not extinguished. It takes birth after birth, to work out the karmic account. Once, it is liberated from the result of karma, or attains moksha, there will no longer be the cycle of birth and death.

OK...here it is there are 2 hells mentioned in the Bible...Sheol which is the holding place (also known as the Grave) where people wait for the Judgment of God....the second hell is Gehenna or the Lake of Fire. This is called the second death and is where those who's names are not in the book of Life will spend eternity. For the children of God there is no need to fear it as they will be spending eternity with the Lord.

The 2nd death is what Adam and Eve went through. They were pure and good in god's sihgt till they ate from the forbidden tree. Also if you aren't saved-having and knowing Jesus as you personal Savior-you will go through the Second death which will be hell. But the Bible says that God wants no one to perish( meaning he wants no one to go to hell)but to have eternal life with him.

In Hell there is constant torment. After the 1000 year Millennium Reign of Christ, souls in Hell will be cast into the eternal Lake of Fire where they together with Satan and all demons will be tormented forever (Revelation 20:10). At that time, both Hell and death (dark, destructive energy) will also be dumped into the Lake of Fire. The Lord Jesus Christ preached many times on Hell to sufficiently warn us.

Jesus describes Hell:

Mark 9:44-48
Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

The Lord Jesus describes Hell as an actual place in the afterlife:

Luke 16:22-24
“The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’

The Lord Jesus says it is a place of weeping and gnashing of teeth:

"There will be weeping there, and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but you yourselves thrown out. (Luke 13:28)

Hell and the Lake of Fire are very real and we need to make the Son of God Jesus Christ our personal Saviour and Lord in order to enter Heaven. After a person's death, if the shed blood of Christ is not covering them, God is not going to accept them into Heaven. They would go to Hell and then be thrown into the Lake of Fire prepared for the devil and his demons.

The Lord Jesus Christ preached numerous times about Hell, not to scare the people but to reveal the truth, and show where those who reject God by rejecting Him end up. For those of us who have not received the actual visions of Hell and the Lake of Fire, what more proof do we need?

God the Son (Jesus Christ) preaching about Hell:

Matthew 5:28,29…
“But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.”

Matthew 16:18…
“And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

Matthew 23:33-34
“Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city."

Mark 9:45,46…
“And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.”

Luke 10:15…
“And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell.”

Luke 12:5…
“But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.”

Revelation 1:18…
“I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.”

Matthew 25:41
“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

The Lord Jesus Christ revealed the Lake of Fire to John in visions:

Revelation 20:10
And the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

Revelation 21:8
But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”

Revelation 20:15
And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

Revelation 20:14
Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.

Revelation 19:20
And the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who in its presence had done the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped its image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur.

There are 2 kinds of people on the earth: people who love God and people who don't. Those who love God will be drawn to His Son Jesus Christ and accept him as their Lord and Saviour. Those who do not love God will not love His Son and accept Him.

1 John 2:23
Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

These who do not love God are not good people but His enemies (Romans 5:10) and He has already prepared a place for them (Hell). Many say they love God but they are liars. How can we prove they are liars? God sent His Son to die for us, but these reject Him (Jesus) and the truth about Him.

God's Plan of Salvation for Us

We cannot be united to God or enter Heaven without accepting the blood of Jesus Christ as the payment for our sins. Praise God for His great sacrifice!

God created us out of love (Jeremiah 31:3) and He doesn't want us to be separated from Him because of our sins. He loves us so much that He sacrificed His own Son Jesus Christ to pay for our sins so we could have a relationship with Him and spend eternity with Him in His kingdom (John 3:16).

Jesus came to pay for our sins with His blood (Matthew 26:28) because without the shedding of blood there would be no forgiveness of sins (Hebrews 9:22), and no other blood besides the blood of the Son of God was sufficient to pay for our sins. We are all sinners and we cannot be redeemed and saved unless we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and His shed blood as payment for our sins.

After a believer dies, they go to paradise to be with Christ (Luke 23:43). If a person dies without accepting Christ as their Lord and Saviour, they would not be forgiven by God. After death, the demons claim them and drag them to a terrible place called Hades (Acts 2:31, Luke 10:15). All those in Hades will be later thrown into the eternal lake of fire along with Satan, his hosts and all who refuse the true and only way of salvation offered in the Lord Jesus Christ. Burning in the everlasting lake of fire is known as the “second death” (Revelation 20:6, 13-15).

God was made flesh as Jesus Christ of Nazareth to make the sacrifice on the cross for the sins of all who would have faith in the Lord Jesus as their Saviour. This faith cleanses the sins of all believers, redeems and unites us to God and allows us to enter and live forever in God's Kingdom. Becoming flesh to suffer an agonizing death on a cross shows the extent of love God has for us, and He wants us to choose Him by accepting the atonement He made for our sins. The Lord Jesus is the only way, the truth and the life (John 14:6).

The truth about Jesus Christ can be found only in the word of God which is the Holy Bible. Verse 16 of chapter 3 of the first book of Timothy speaks about Jesus:

“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” (1 Timothy 3:16)

Philippians 2:9-11 tells us that Jesus Christ is Lord over all:

“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:9-11)

False doctrines claim that there are several paths to God. Scripture/the word of God tells us that there is only one way and that is through Jesus Christ. Verse 6 of Chapter 14 of the book of John says:

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)

Verse 36 of chapter 3 of the book of John reveals:

"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him" (John 3:36).

If you sincerely say this prayer, your sins will be washed away, you will be saved from eternal torment and inherit the Kingdom of God:

"Dear Jesus,

I am a sinner.
I repent of my sins.
Please forgive me and save me by your shed blood;
come into my heart.
I want to receive you as my own personal Lord and Savior.

Amen"

After sincerely saying this prayer, the Holy Spirit will abide within you and begin to lead you to all truth, empower and equip you and help you along life's journey. Keep your faith growing by reading and studying the word, remain in a repentant and humble spirit and always have Almighty God as first priority in your life.

As long as you have faith in the Lord Jesus as your Saviour you are saved. Through your faith in Christ as your Saviour the Holy Spirit will guide you in repenting of your sins and doing the will of God. If you lose this faith, you lose Salvation.
