(20 year old male) I have bad hand writing and I'm willing to work on it, but I don't know what to do or where to begin. (solutions that involve no money expending, please)

Try doing a web search for "palmer handwriting method". Someone's bound to have instructional sheets you could print.

it doesn't matter what you're handwriting looks like if you are just taking notes for yourself. everyone's handwriting is a little shaky when they are in a hurry. if you want to practice for writing notes, love letters, etc. go buy a writing tablet from wal-mart or an art store. get the paper with the three lines and a guide alphabet. you could start by tracing the letters and then move up from there. it might seem silly, but i'm guessing it works. it's how most people learn to write in the first place. don't fret over it too much. as long as it's legible, i think you're fine. good luck!

i practice writing in very different situations, try writing at home, and do a demo at home, example: tell a friend to say as much as possible in a limited time and write it continue doing this for a while- its ok i'm a teenage girl and still have bad writing.

Try to write slowly first, with maximum good hand writing. Improve the speed slowly. And use the pens which were most suitable to you.

when you have time try to copy text from a random book. do it slowly and pay attention to detail. by making this repetition exercise you will train your hand into having a nice calligraphy ;)
i had the same problem and it worked for me...it takes time but it's worth it!
