Heb 13:24
It was by faith that Moses, when he grew up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. 25 He chose to share the oppression of God’s people instead of enjoying the fleeting pleasures of sin. 26 He thought it was better to suffer for the sake of Christ than to own the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking ahead to his great reward. 27 It was by faith that Moses left the land of Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger. He kept right on going because he kept his eyes on the one who is invisible. 28 It was by faith that Moses commanded the people of Israel to keep the Passover and to sprinkle blood on the doorposts so that the angel of death would not kill their firstborn sons.

Well the Egyptians were about a hundred times more advanced than most other societies of their time, but there is still that whole slave thing to deal with, that had to suck since I think building the stuff the egyptians liked to build was pretty hard work. I'm just wondering how they managed to escape Egypt, pretty sure that whole plagues story is bunk,I always figured the jews just caused so much bloodshed through rebellion that it was just easier to let them go.And the Angel of Death certainly didn't go through egypt killing peoples first born children so it had to be something else that caused pharoah to let them go,my guess has always been either rebellion or the natural ending of a period of slavery and later jewish people turned it into this great brave story.

Don't forget, he was an Egyptian after his birth mother gave him back to the Egytian princess. After Moses murdered one the Egyptian gaurds he ran for his life. Later when he was older and married, he was on a mission from God. With God's help he was able to keep away from that former lifestyle-don't forget he was a Hebrew. And he was a messanger from God, so he wasn't phased with all the glamor and wealth. He was poor in a way like the Israilites.
And he knew as he was growing up he was not an Egytian. Just read the first part of Exodus and read Hebrews 11. Hebrews 11 says, it was by faith......Moses was oppressed by the Egyptians and the Egyptian princess knew he wasn't an Egyptian but a hebrew, but she raised him as his own, after he was weaned from his mother's breast.

Unknown to Moses, his wet-nurse was his own mother. Thus, during those early formative years, Yocheved was able to instill in her son his true identity. When he became an adult, that identity came to the surface in Moses and he identified with his people and their sufferings. At that point, casting off the pleasures of the palace became a simple matter.

maybe because jews were slaves in egypt?

aside from that...africa is a pretty desolate place. egypt only has the Nile going for it. so take yur pick: be a slave in a mostly barren region, ooooor move your people out of slavery, get a nice chunk of land of your own, and live a prosporous life?

Egypt had poverty for his people and slavery. He gave up everything so his people would not have to be slaves for the egyptians.

Although he didn't know God yet, God was working through him, and in his heart of hearts he knew that there was something better out there for him. Good thing he was right!
