I think that if believing in something false makes you happy, then that is all what "religion", because i think that is what you mean, is about :)

Believing in a lie will get you killed quicker. Believing that "God" will protect you and that you can jump off a high cliff or step in front of a speeding car or pick up poisenous snakes will get you killed.
If you don't believe in anything, you don't get yourself in positions of danger as you are more cautious. If you don't believe in anything, you won't be careless.
If there is truly something "protecting and saving" people the entity will do it whether you believe in it or not. If you believe it some entity to save you and there is not one, you will more likely die from some stupid and careless action.
Don't jump off the cliff or step in front of a speeding car as NOTHING will protect you...if you get away with doing something stupid once, it doesn't mean you will get away with it time after time.

If you believe in something false, and if you don't believe in something that is real, both can get you in just about as much trouble.
If you don't believe in electricity, and allow this negative belief to lead you to touch high-voltage electric wires, you are still dead.
If you believe that a rock will act as a floatation device in a heavy sea, you're probably dead as well.
It depends on the nature of the thing believed or disbelieved.

Stupid question. The two are effectively opposites... All beliefs in "real" things are bound to be false, hence the only way to believe truly is not to believe at all... to believe only in the Nihil.
Not believing in anything is the only way to be free.
Just about everyone believes in something false. It is the curse of humanity... and something I seek to purge myself of. More especially though, it is liberating for me to purge the most non-sensical beliefs of others personally... They will never thank me for my efforts, but honestly their beliefs are their condemnation and only when they let go of them will they be free.

It depends on what you do with your belief or lack of belief. If you belief in something false and try to legislate your belief or morals on others or commit act of violence because of it, that that's bad. If your lack of believe causes a moral crisis and you then do anything that you want without regards to others, that is also bad.
If your belief or lack thereof, helps you and others get through life then either one is good.
I personally would rather believe in provable, verifiable truth.

This question implies that atheists don't believe in anything. To believe that is itself to believe something false. That's pretty bad.

You are closer to right if you believe nothing. At least you don't have to get rid of the wrong idea to get to the truth. You are much better waiting till you have the evidence.
"It is always better to have no ideas than false ones; to believe nothing, than to believe what is wrong."

should this question be:
what is worst?...not believing in something true?..or believing in something false?
Because not believing in something false is obviously better than believing in something false, and not believing in something true is obviously worse than believing in something true.
