What are some comparisons ( similarities and differences) of Christianity, Judaism and Islam?

They all stem from each other, from Abraham's children Isaac and Ishmael. Judaism and Christianity claim their origins thorugh Isaac, and Islam through Ishmael. It's in Genesis.

I've taken college classes that discuss just that, and there's not enough time or space to actually answer that. Try reading Huston Smith's "Religions of the World," or "World Religions," something like that. Should be cheap if you get it paperback and used.

I suppose you may think they are similar, but they are not. If they were all created by the same God, then they would not be three seperate religions. I could ask you this question: a rock, a tree, and a turtle? What are some comparisons? You can't really think of something they all three have in common with each other because they are all different. A tree did not come from a rock, and a turtle did not come from a tree. Christians don't believe Chrisitanity is a form of Judaism, and Muslims don't believe Islam is a form of Christianity.

All can be traced back to Abraham, his two sons were the heads of them, Isaak was the father of Judaism, Ishmael the father of Islam, and Christianity is an offshoot of Judaism.
That is as far as the similarities go,Christians know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior, while Jews still wait for the coming Messiah (Jesus), and the Muslims have their false prophet Mohahameds.

Judaism: Nationalistic-religion(that is, its patriotism towards Israel). Islam only: Muhammad. Christianity: Belief in the Triune God. All 3: a)Monotheistic, b) Abrahamic. Christianity & Islam: Believe that Jesus Is the Messiah. Christianity & Judaism: Old Testament is the same as the Torah & Tanach. Islam & Judaism: Dietary Laws are the same. Both Kosher(Jewish) & Halal(Muslim)forbid eating pork.

Hi Sweetie,
All three use the Old Testament Scriptures. The Jewish People believe that the Messiah has not yet come. The Christians believe that Christ is the Messiah. Islam believes that they are to add Mohammad as another writer to the scriptures. I am a Christian. Have a great day!
Thanks,

Those who lean unto there own understanding of scripture are leading others astray and blinded by their "pride!" But this has to occur for the Kingdom of God is coming to this earth and establish His way as the only way.

Pride is man's downfall. The End of the circle of man's self rule will be the beginning of Christ's Kingdom but that "pride" must be broken first!

This is near impossible to document here but here is a very short run down:

Islam is a combination of Judaism/Christianity and a spattering of Median/Meccan culture. Therefore it has a lot of similarities with both faith traditions.

Judaism and Christianity although initially sharing a lot in common (2000 years ago) now share virtually nothing in common. Christianity has far more in common with a host of Pagan faiths.

The only thing that matters is that Jews don't shove their kewky opinions down other people's throats. They might believe similarly crazy things, but they are non-offensive about it and that makes them just fine by me.

Christians and muslims on the other hand are prone to proselytising and highly offensive behaviour... more the christians for the former and the muslims for the latter.
