I'm going to Japan this summer to visit my cousins and family. My cousin speaks English, but I'd like to learn some Japanese before I go there... I know some Japanese enough to conduct a conversation [Well, I think...] & I want to expand a little more. What I need is someone who's Japanese [or at least speaks the language well] that can teach me? I would really be thankful.

You should check into getting the Rosetta Stone program for learning the language. It is very effective.

Do an internet search for english to japanese translator program. If you can read japanese that is ....if not go to your local circuit city or other software retailer and look for japanese language discs that will teach you the language. You could also look for them on e-bay or search internet for japanese language software.

The best way to learn is to socialize with Japanese speakers, use what you already know and build from there. They are usually willing to help and correct your grammar if you ask.

Also, if you are into it, you can write to Japanese speakers via email on pen-pal programs. I've listed a site as my source if you are interested.

My friend wanted to learn it also. He got a job at a Japanese restaurant. He speaks it great now.
