No better person to tell than a parent. Also, a school counselor would be able to help you. You've already made a good start by admitting you have a problem.

It's time for some therapy and meds. Cutting is an extreme form of stress relief. We weren't made to bottle up all of our feelings because they'll come out one way or another, like cutting your arms up.
I'm 32 and about 6 months ago I tried to kill myself 2x in one week. First time I drove my car into a telephone poll going about 70. Then few days later once I got back home, I took all the narcotic pain relievers they gave me (22 tramadol).
Point is, there are a lot of us that are feeling or have been feeling exactly like you do. You're not alone in this.
You have to seek help. I know when you're depressed help isn't exactly the easiest thing to go after. Almost the polar opposite in fact. But we cannot fix these things on our own.
There's possibly a chemical imbalance which needs attention. If you get on the right med(s), your entire world will change for the better.
They finally found the right mix of meds and I haven't been this happy in at least 10 years. I don't feel drugged out or altered...I just feel like me but a much more happy me.
Talk to your parents if you have that kind of relationship with them. If not, try a counselor at school. There are also usually programs in the community to treat mental problems/illnesses. There's really no stigma attached to it unless you make it a big deal. People don't have to know or you can tell everyone and get it out in the open. Either will work. You have to talk to *someone* about your problems though. You'll find that once you get stuff out in the open it's easier to deal with them.
I didn't think a therapist could help me, but the one I saw was very helpful. It's the little things they suggest that help the most. It's not like you walk in, then 10 mins later, they tell you something so deep that your life is changed. It's more about managing moods and stress.
Also, I'd advise you to exercise any way you can. Exercise is probably the best way to control depression and/or stress. It requires more effort than other "fixes", but it's 100% effective. Try to get your heartrate up at least 3x a week. Take brisk walks, run, ride a bike, do aerobics...anything.
Exercise actually increases the number of neuroreceptors in the brain. This means that when serotonin (chemical responsible for our sense of well being) or dopamine (the pleasure chemical) are released into the brain, we have more ways to process those "feel good" chemicals. It's a hugemongous benefit. And usually those of us suffering from depression are either a.) not releasing enough serotonin/dopamine or b.) we lack the proper number of receptors to process the chemicals.
Try to intake more Omega-3's. It's a fatty acid that helps regulate moods and also lowers bad cholesterol. So you kill 2 birds with one stone. Smart Balance instead of butter is a good start. Fish contain the highest amounts of omega-3's naturally. So do nuts. And there are also pastas being mass produced with omega-3's added to them. You can buy fish oil caplets too if you don't like or won't be able to eat fish frequently enough.
B vitamins help control stress. When you stress, you use up your b-vitamins at a faster rate. B6 and B12 are a few of the building blocks for serotonin as well. It's a good idea to get a b-vitamin complex (one pill that contains them all) and take it daily.
Hope this helps and seek out of help very soon. We can't always deal with our problems by ourself. It takes a strong person to ask for help.

being emo doesn't really always lead to suicidal thoughts and sliced up arms =- anyway, right first step - you came here crying out for attention - NOW GO TELL SOMEONE WHO IS LIVE AND IN FRONT OF YOU - your monitor can not give you the help you need....

You have depression or something like it. You're self injuring. You need help. I used to be emo too. But after I go a therapist and sorted things that bothered me, I'm better now.
If something in your past bothers you. Tell your therapist.
Do things that make you happy. Hang out with friends. Go to the park. Sounds stupid but it really works.

Send me a mail at r_govardhanam@yahoo.com. See the events in this world as a movie. just goes at its pace and takes turns when we expect the least. Suicide will surely put an end to current thought pattern. But, that thought pattern can be changed by changing the thoughts. It is much easier than suicide. I can tell how it has to be done. Mail me your situation.

You are not emo, you are depressed. One does not equate the other. Tell your parents. You need therapy, if not medication. Cutting is an addiction and the only way to treat it is to treat the underlying problem.

You are self-harming yourself, plus suffering from depression, go to your GP, he should understand and refer you to a psychiatrist, you desperately need help.
You are half way there, by reaching out by asking for help, now go the one step further, have you told your parents/husband or other family members. If not please do, if you can't tell family members, find a close friend who will support you while you are at the doctors.
don't bottle up anymore, go and get the help you need.
