Yes,I agree..nearly everything now is bad for us.I have eaten all the 'bad' stuff we are told not to eat for around half a century but I'm still quite fit for my age.
Giving up everything you enjoy may not make you live longer..but it sure as hell would feel like it.

I would like to know if I I was going to die through an illness. That way I could plan things I wanted to do before I died and made sure my children were well taken care of before I enter the pearly gates. I am sure many people would feel this way, very good question for debate as I am also sure that there are many different views on this subject.

Was what better when people died in blissful ignorance of their illness?
Before we were aware of many causes of illness and death, people died decades earlier and often suffered terribly in the process. I find it hard to believe that their "blissful ignorance" could possibly be considered a good thing.

Sometimes ignorance is bliss, but educating ones self is not bad either....everything in moderation....I don't plan to eat cardboard, but I appreciate knowing what's good for me and what's bad....healthy balance...if I had a disease and I were dying, I'd want to know to say good bye to those I love, wrap things up....but, I don't worry about it too much...I could get hit by a truck tomorrow...then where does all that healthy eating and exercising get me???

Being totally ignorant of illnesses or not has little to do if one dies blissfully. My idea of dying blissfully is to die when I am 90 but still in good health, in my own bed, after a fabulous night out dining & dancing with my beloved.

Are we paranoid?
Do we eat cardboard?
I certainly don't
and can't think of any instance where I would rather be ignorant and helpless than knowledgeable and empowered.

No - knowledge is power.
It's about time we learned that as a race, we are responsible for our own health and way of life. If you know the cause, you are better able to find out how to make things better.

No beacause they're still dead and possibly died a painful one too. At least you have a better chance of being cured with an early diagnosis, generally speaking of course

If I was dying of old age and alzheimer's I would rather be ignorant of it thank you. Knowing what is happening can be incredibly frightening.
