Hello,
Heres my deal....I am selling a car in a local book and a man named jim contacted me say he wants to buy the truck and will be sending me a check for 3800 dollars to cover shipping blah blah blah..so i responded back and gave him my name, address, phone number and email.
I looked online and found out AFTER it is a scam.
I emailed him back and told him the truck has been sold and to not send a check b/c it will be returned to him.
What do I do now? What can he do with that information?
I didnt give him my SS number so can he still steal my ID??
Should I change my address and phone number?

I wanted to add that i just contacted my local police office and told them the deal...I guess this is something that happens all the time..He also says where i have made a report we should be pretty safe if anything came up. And to report the check to the FBI if it comes as someone said below.
Thanks for your help everyone

This is what happens when you don't check things out BEFORE you send any type of information.
Now that he has all this information, he could find out a lot more and possibly cause all kinds of trouble for you, including identity theft.
I doubt if changing your phone number or address will accomplish much. You need to keep an eye on your credit accounts, bank statements, etc......
I hope nothing comes of this and he leaves you alone but, there's always the chance, he can really mess up your life.
