my 5year old son asked me this and i cant think of a better answer.so i told him ill ask it in yahoo.i hope i can get some good answers here

It so they can't get tangled up in them and the other guy can't grab him and punch the crap outta him.

Because a t-shirt would limit your mobility and after several rounds the shirt will get all soaked in sweat and you wouldn't want to wear it. Plus many less than honest boxers would grab their opponent by the shirt and pummel them for cheap shots.

the t-shirts are expensive and i dont think that it should get hurt and because the boxers move without it and it is not alowed in boxing. they alow it in basketball because the players are not fighting and they alow it in boxing only if it is personal treyning and they do not alow it because it is not allowed acording to the boxing comision. thats y they do not wer tishurts.
