Yes do try UBUNTU.

Get UBUNTU (or XUBUNTU if your computer has less than 256MB of RAM).

It's a free, reliable and up to date operating system.

You can explore it from the "LIVE CD".

It's easy to install and use. You can dual boot it with other operating systems.

Once you have it installed, you gain access to thousands of free programs created by the open source community. There is excellent support - see the WIKI starter guide, and the Linux forums.

Always back up your data before making changes to your computer.

PowerMacs, because they are 32-bit, can run Linux. MacOSX has a Linux kernal with the eye candy running in RAM. A regular PC can dual-boot XP and Linux without too much difficulties. Vista can dual-boot with 3rd-party bootup software. You can run Linux as a complete distro and run it from the CD without changing a thing. Try ubuntu. Download the ISO CD-image, burn it to a CD and make sure your computer will check the CD reader first for boot order.

I'm not sure what you are asking.

Mac can run XP using BootCamp or Parallels.

XP can run Linux using VM ware OR can dual boot.

ONLY Apple hardware can run OS X.

Google / Yahoo search for more info.
